Fourteen grueling but fun hours in three separate cars did it take us to reach our destination, St. Louis, Missouri. We were making this trip so we could take part in the FIRST Lego League‘s Global Innovation Award competition within the general international competition.
Rising a few hours before the crack of dawn and being out of Canada by the time our regular classes would have begun wasn’t necessarily the fun part, but seeing as we only made it there by sunset, it was the important part. Taking a few wrong turns within instants of leaving our country, however, might be considered among the most enjoyable happenstances. That, and, of course, setting the GPS to the wrong place and ending up just a few hundred meters from the actual city, but left rather shocked at being told the fact that our hotel was, apparently, an abandoned car repair shop. It wasn’t, of course, but in that instant, we were all rather dumbfounded.
